MELBOURNE - Oct 23/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea will move further eastwards on Wednesday as a low pressure trough deepens over South Australia. The trough will enter the southwest of the State late on Wednesday, deepening into a low pressure system as it tracks southeastwards across Bass Strait and Tasmania on Thursday. A colder southwesterly airflow will affect Victoria behind the low and will be reinforced by cold fronts on Friday and early Saturday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers developing over the southwest by the afternoon and extending to most western parts in the evening. Remaining dry elsewhere. Warm and partly cloudy with moderate to fresh northerly winds ahead of a westerly change in the far west at night.Thursday 25 OctoberScattered showers near the southwest and central coasts. Isolated showers over remaining southern and mountain districts, but generally dry over the north. Warm at first in the east, but cool southwesterly winds gradually extending throughout.Friday 26 OctoberScattered showers in southern and mountain districts, falling as snow above 1300 metres, and becoming isolated in the north. Cool to cold in the south, mild in the north.Saturday 27 OctoberScattered showers in the southeast, becoming isolated in mountain districts and in the southwest. Showers falling as snow above 1100 metres at first.
