Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 23/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea extends a ridge to northeastern New South Wales. This system will gradually weaken today, as a low pressure trough over central Australia approaches the state's western border. Warm to hot northerly winds will precede the trough, which is expected to bring a southerly change across the south and west during Thursday, before continuing to the northeast on Friday. Behind the trough, the next high pressure system is forecast to strengthen a ridge across the region through the weekend, maintaining dry conditions in most districts.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayFine apart from the chance of early showers about the far north coast. Mostly sunny. Southeast to northeasterly winds near the coast, freshening in the south during the afternoon. Hot northwest to northeasterly winds inland, fresh at times in the far west.Thursday 25 OctoberFine throughout. Sunny in the north, partly cloudy in the south. Hot northwest to northeasterly winds ahead of a cooler south to southwesterly change in the west and south.Friday 26 OctoberThe chance of showers in the southeast, more likely about the Alps. The chance of showers or thunderstorms on the far north coast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Southwest to southeasterly winds extending throughout.Saturday 27 OctoberIsolated clearing showers in the southeast, and the chance of showers on the far north coast. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. South to southeasterly winds, fresh near the southern and central coasts.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Wednesday.Product IDN10031
