MELBOURNE - Oct 22/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system moving quickly eastwards across the State today will reach the Tasman Sea on Tuesday as a low pressure trough develops over South Australia. The trough will enter the southwest of the State on Wednesday, as a low pressure system develops just west of Bass Strait. A cold front will follow on Thursday with cooler southwesterly winds extending throughout, as the low moves southeast of Tasmania. Another cold front will move across Victoria on Friday. Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers over East Gippsland. Winds becoming light and variable.Tuesday 23 OctoberLocal early fog over Gippsland and frost patches in the northeast. A mild to warm and mostly sunny day. Moderate to fresh northerly winds, although lighter in the east with afternoon seabreezes developing along the Gippsland coast.Wednesday 24 OctoberScattered showers developing later over the southwest, remaining dry in the remainder. Warm with moderate to fresh northerly winds ahead of a cooler west to southwest change reaching the southwest late in the day.Thursday 25 OctoberScattered showers near the southwest and central coasts. Isolated showers over remaining southern and mountain districts, but generally dry over the north. Warm at first in the east, but cool southwesterly winds gradually extending throughout.Friday 26 OctoberScattered showers in southern and mountain districts, falling as snow above 1500 metres, and becoming isolated in the north.
