Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 20/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front will move through Bass Strait tonight. The next high pressure system will move quickly eastwards across the State on Monday and will reach the Tasman Sea on Tuesday as a low pressure trough develops over South Australia. The trough will enter the State on Wednesday, affecting mainly western and central districts.
Forecast for the rest of SundayDry and mostly sunny over the northern plains. Isolated showers over southern and mountain districts, becoming scattered near the West Gippsland coast. Snow above 1200 metres. Moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds, strong at times near the coast. Cool in the south, milder in the north.Monday 22 OctoberLocal early frost in the west. Isolated showers on and south of the ranges contracting to the east during the afternoon and clearing during the evening. Showers more widespread over East Gippsland with the chance of hail and thunder. Showers falling as snow over Alpine areas. Cool in the south, mild in the north with light to moderate south to southeasterly winds.Tuesday 23 OctoberLocal early fog over Gippsland. A mild to warm and mostly sunny day. Moderate to fresh northerly winds, although lighter in the east with afternoon seabreezes developing along the Gippsland coast.Wednesday 24 OctoberScattered showers developing over the southwest and isolated showers developing over most remaining districts, although dry in the far east. Warm with moderate to fresh northerly winds ahead of a cooler west to southwest change extending from the west during the afternoon.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Sunday.Product IDV10310
