MELBOURNE - Oct 17/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough over northeast New South Wales is weakening as a high strengthens across Victoria and southern New South Wales. Later today the high will move to the Tasman Sea as a trough approaches the state's west. A low developing within this trough is forecast to pass over southern districts during Friday, but is not expected to generate much shower activity due to the dryness of the atmosphere. The next significant cold front appears likely to affect the region during Sunday and Monday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayMorning drizzle patches along the north coast and adjacent ranges, and possibly about the eastern part of the central ranges. Isolated afternoon showers about the north coast, with the risk of a thunderstorm or two near the Queensland border. Fine and partly cloudy along the remainder of the coast and over the southern inland. Sunny and very warm over the northern inland. Early frost and fog patches about the ranges, mainly in the south. Chiefly northwest to northeasterly winds, freshening along southern and central parts of the coast during the afternoon.Fire Danger - Very High: Northwest Slopes and Plains.Friday 19 OctoberThe chance of showers over most eastern districts. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Very warm day through most of the state, hot in the northwest. Northwest to northeast winds freshening before a south to southwest change in the west and south.Saturday 20 OctoberIsolated showers in the far northeast. Fine and sunny elsewhere. Very warm to hot day in the north. Northwest to northeast winds in the northeast. Southwest to southeast winds remainder.Sunday 21 OctoberScattered showers developing in southern and central districts. Isolated showers elsewhere, mainly in the northeast.
