MELBOURNE - Oct 15/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front will reach western Victoria this afternoon, moving through eastern areas tonight. A high pressure system will develop over the Bight today then will move eastwards to be near southwestern Victoria Wednesday night. The high will move to the Tasman Sea on Thursday as a low pressure system develops over South Australia. The low will move to the north of Victoria during Friday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayPatchy rain extending from the northwest during the morning, contracting northeastwards this afternoon but scattered showers to follow, mainly over southern and mountain districts. Isolated thunderstorms possible. Generally mild. Light winds tending northwesterly and freshening ahead of a gusty west to southwesterly change extending from the west during the afternoon and evening.Wednesday 17 OctoberIsolated showers in southern and mountain districts, falling as snow above 1400 metres at first, contracting to the coast during the morning before clearing later. Cool to mild with moderate southwesterly winds, strong near the coast.Thursday 18 OctoberFine. Mild day in the south, mild to warm in the north. Light winds inland, moderate afternoon seabreezes developing.Friday 19 OctoberFine. Warm inland with light winds.
