MELBOURNE - Oct 15/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front over waters south of the Bight will reach western Victoria on Tuesday afternoon, moving through eastern areas at night. A high pressure system will develop in the Bight on Tuesday and extend a ridge across northern Victoria before moving east to over southwestern Victoria Wednesday night. The high will move to the Tasman Sea on Thursday as a low pressure system develops over South Australia. The low will move to the north of Victoria during Friday. Forecast for the rest of MondayFine. Patchy high cloud. Moderate to fresh northerly winds in the east at first but light to moderate west to northwesterly winds developing from the west.Tuesday 16 OctoberPatchy rain developing in the west during the morning before extending to central and eastern areas later. Isolated thunderstorms possible near the ranges during the afternoon. Generally mild but warm over the far north and east. Light winds tending northwesterly before shifting gusty southwesterly from the west during the afternoon and evening.Wednesday 17 OctoberIsolated showers in southern and mountain districts, falling as snow above 1400 metres at first, contracting to the coast during the morning before clearing later. Cool to mild with moderate southwesterly winds, strong near the coast.Thursday 18 OctoberFine. Mild day in the south, mild to warm in the north. Light winds inland, moderate afternoon seabreezes developing.Friday 19 OctoberFine. Warm inland with light winds.
