Weather Situation
A high [1025 hPa] over Victoria is pushing dry air across most of Queensland.
The high expected to move slowly eastwards over the next few days. An upper
level trough will move over far southeastern Queensland today, accompanied by a
weak southerly change.
Forecast for the rest of Sunday
Fine and sunny over most of the state except for some isolated showers and
storms over the Peninsula district and the far southeast. Light to moderate SW
to SE winds over most of the state, fresh about the northeast coast.
Forecast for Monday
The high should move eastwards into the Tasman Sea while maintaining fine and
sunny conditions across most of Queensland, except for some isolated showers
about the southeast and northeast coasts, and some isolated storms about the
Gulf Country coast. Below average morning temperatures over most of the state,
but daytime maxima should rise to close to the monthly average. Fresh to strong
SE winds about the northeast coast.
Forecast for Tuesday
The high should drift towards the eastern reaches of the Tasman Sea, but will
still maintain fine and sunny conditions across most of the state. Isolated
showers are expected about the tropical east coast and the Gulf Country coast.
Fresh to strong SE winds should continue about the northeast tropical coast. A
cool morning through most central and eastern districts with maximum
temperatures rising above average in the southwest.
Forecast for Wednesday
The high should remain near the eastern reaches of the Tasman Sea, and most
of Queensland should remain fine and mostly sunny, except for some isolated
showers about the tropical east coast. Temperatures should rise above the
monthly average over the southern districts ahead of a weak surface trough, but
no rain is expected over the region.
Outlook for Thursday, Friday and Saturday
A new high should drift over Victoria and into the Tasman Sea, maintaining
mostly fine conditions across the state except for some isolated showers along
parts of Queensland's east coast. Daytime temperatures are likely to remain
above average over the southern and central districts as winds tend more
northerly.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:10 pm EST
Sunday.
