MELBOURNE - Oct 12/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Warning Summary at issue time A Strong Wind Warning is current for coastal waters between Cape Moreton and Point Danger, including Moreton Bay. For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's web site www.bom.gov.au/qld Weather Situation A high lies over the Great Australian Bight and a low lies near the New South Wales coast, and the two weather systems have pushed cool southerly winds over the eastern states. Forecast for the rest of Friday Cool to cold conditions across a lot of the state, except for the Peninsula district and the state's northeast. Isolated showers and storms over the Peninsula district. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Fresh to strong SW to SE winds near the coast and over the state's southeast, moderate to fresh SW to SE winds over the remainder of the state. Forecast for Saturday A high over Victoria should produce fine and sunny conditions across most of Queensland, except for some isolated showers over the northern parts of the Peninsula district. Cool conditions over inland parts, with extensive areas of early frost over the southern and southeastern interior. Light to moderate SW to SE winds over most of the state, tending fresh to strong SE'ly near the Gulf Country. Forecast for Sunday The high should drift to the northeast across New South Wales, and is expected to maintain fine and mostly sunny conditions across most of Queensland. A weak SE change may push some isolated showers towards the Gold Coast, and some isolated showers are also possible about the far north of Cape York Peninsula. A cold morning across most of the state with areas of morning frost about the Granite Belt. Forecast for Monday The high will push into the Tasman Sea, maintaining fine and mostly sunny conditions across most of Queensland. Isolated showers about the southeast and northeast coasts. Temperatures gradually warming, and rising to above average in the far west. Forecast for Tuesday The high should drift towards the eastern reaches of the Tasman Sea, but will still maintain fine and mostly sunny conditions across most of the state, except for some isolated showers about the tropical east coast. Outlook for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday Fine and mostly sunny across the state, except for some isolated showers over parts of the east coast. Daytime temperatures increasing to above average over the southern and central districts. The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am EST Saturday.
