MELBOURNE - Oct 12/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A complex low pressure system over the Tasman Sea will move rapidly east tonight. A high pressure system over the Bight will drift over western Victoria on Saturday then across the east of the State on Sunday to reach the northern Tasman Sea on Monday. A weak cold front will brush southern Victoria late on Monday then a stronger front will reach western Victoria on Tuesday afternoon. Forecast for the rest of FridayScattered showers near and south of the divide, falling as snow above 1400 metres. Cool to cold with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds, strong about the Gippsland coast.Saturday 13 OctoberScattered showers mainly on and south of the ranges clearing later from the west. Brief snow on southern Alpine peaks above 1400 metres. Mostly dry over the northern plains. Cool and mainly cloudy with light to moderate southwest winds.Sunday 14 OctoberIsolated showers in the southeast clearing during the morning. Local morning fogs in the west and north. A fine afternoon. A mild and mainly sunny day with a light wind tending northwesterly.Monday 15 OctoberGenerally fine and warm with a moderate to fresh northerly wind ahead of a milder southwesterly change in the west later. Isolated showers possible near the west coast during the afternoon and evening.Tuesday 16 OctoberIsolated showers developing from the west and becoming more extensive in the southwest and about the northeast ranges during the afternoon. Remaining dry over East Gippsland.
