Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 11/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system deepening off the southern New South Wales coast will intensify while moving to the central coast overnight, before heading away to the east later Friday. A strong high pressure system near the Bight is expected to drift slowly east during the next few days, reaching the Tasman Sea by late Sunday. A weak cold front is forecast to cross southern parts of the state mid-week.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayRain areas in the east with local heavy falls in the southeast. Snow on the Alps and snow showers developing on higher parts of the central ranges later. Scattered showers elsewhere, with local small hail in the far west. The chance of thunderstorms in most districts. Strong to gales force southeasterly winds developing on the southern coast. Northwest to southwesterly winds elsewhere. Dangerous surf developing along the southern coast.Friday 12 OctoberIsolated showers in the eastern half, contracting to the coast in the afternoon then clearing. Rain areas about central parts of the coast and adjacent ranges during the morning with heavy falls possible. Snow showers above about 1000m on the central and northern ranges during the morning, and above 900 metres on the southern ranges. Fine and partly cloudy in the west. Gusty southeast to southwesterly winds, strong to gale force near the coast, easing later. Dangerous surf conditions along the coast.Fire Danger -  Very High in the Far North Coast and Mid North Coast.Saturday 13 OctoberIsolated showers in the southeast, mainly afternoon. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Early frost patches on the tablelands. South to southwesterly winds, tending southeast on the coast.Sunday 14 OctoberFine and mostly sunny. Early frost about the tablelands. Light winds.Monday 15 OctoberFine apart from the chance of showers in the far northeast.
