MELBOURNE - Oct 10/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front over western Victoria will reach central Victoria tonight and then weaken. An intense low pressure system will develop off the central coast of New South Wales later on Thursday before moving southeastwards across the Tasman Sea on Friday. A high pressure system will move over the Bight on Friday then eastwards to western Victoria on Saturday before drifting towards Sydney on Sunday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayRain areas in the west extending to central areas at night. Local hail and thunder possible in the west. Snow above 800 metres. Light to moderate west to southwesterly winds, tending colder fresh to strong southerly from the west.Thursday 11 OctoberScattered showers, tending to rain at times over the south and east. Local hail and thunder possible. Snow above 1000 metres. A partly cloudy day with cool to cold, fresh and gusty southerly wind, strengthening about parts of the coast.Friday 12 OctoberScattered showers near and south of the ranges, fine over the northern inland. Snow above 1200 metres. Cool to cold with moderate to fresh south to southwesterly winds, strong at times about the coast.Saturday 13 OctoberScattered showers near and south of the ranges easing in the west. Fine elsewhere. Cool with light to moderate southwest winds.Sunday 14 OctoberFine after isolated showers in the southeast clear during the morning.
