MELBOURNE - Oct 9/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A broad low pressure trough lies over northern and southeastern New South Wales. During Wednesday a cold front will move to the south of the state and the trough will contract east with a low will developing over the southeast of the state overnight. On Thursday the low will move over the southwestern Tasman Sea and deepen before moving rapidly east on Friday as a high pressure system moves toward the Bight strengthening a ridge across the state. The high is expected to be centred over the western Tasman Sea by Sunday, moving slowly east and maintaining the ridge to the northeast. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers coast and adjacent ranges tending scattered near the central coast, contracting south during the day. Mostly sunny west of the Divide. Light winds.Fire Danger - Very High in the Northern Rivers and parts of the Northern Tablelands.Wednesday 10 OctoberPartly cloudy in the northeast with the chance of showers on the far north coast. Isolated showers elsewhere tending scattered in the southeast. Snow showers on the higher Alps. The chance of thunderstorms in the far southeast. Northerly winds turning colder, fresh and gusty southwesterly in the west and southeast.Thursday 11 OctoberIsolated showers tending scattered in the southeast but clearing from the west. Snow showers on the Alps and possibly on the central ranges above 1300 metres. Cold and gusty southwesterly winds extending throughout.Friday 12 OctoberIsolated showers on the ranges, coast and in the far south. Partly cloudy elsewhere.
