Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 8/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system located near southwest Victoria will slowly weaken on Monday. A weak cold front will reach southwest Victoria on Tuesday afternoon then will cross southern Victoria to reach the Tasman Sea early Wednesday. A second, stronger cold front will then sweep across Victoria on Wednesday leaving a cold southerly airflow in its wake on Thursday.
Forecast for the rest of MondayMostly cloudy with isolated showers on and south of the divide, scattered at times over Gippsland and falling as snow down to 1300 metres. Local early frost or fog in the northeast. A cool to mild day with light winds and afternoon seabreezes near the coast.Tuesday 9 OctoberLocal early frost and fog inland. Isolated showers possible over most districts in the afternoon, becoming more widespread in the southwest in the afternoon. Generally mild with light to moderate northwest to southwest winds freshening near the western coast. Afternoon coastal seabreezes about the central and Gippsland coasts.Wednesday 10 OctoberScattered showers developing over most districts and tending more widespread over parts of the south. Local hail and thunder possible, mainly in the afternoon. Showers falling as snow down to 1100 metres over eastern ranges but down to 900 metres over the Grampians. A cool to cold and partly cloudy day with light to moderate west to southwesterly winds freshening about the coast and over western districts in the afternoon.Thursday 11 OctoberScattered showers near and south of the ranges tending more widespread over the southeast. Isolated showers developing elsewhere in the afternoon. Local hail possible with showers and isolated thunderstorms over eastern districts. Showers falling as snow above 800 metres. A partly cloudy day with cool to cold moderate southerly winds, freshening in the afternoon and becoming locally strong about parts of the coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Monday.Product IDV10310
