MELBOURNE - Oct 7/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system off the NSW south coast will move rapidly eastwards over the Tasman Sea on Sunday. The next high pressure system will be located just to the southwest of Victoria on Sunday then will slowly weaken on Monday. A weak cold front will cross waters south of the Bight to reach southwest Victoria late on Tuesday. A second, stronger cold front will then sweep across Victoria on Wednesday leaving a cold southerly airflow in its wake. Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers on and south of the ranges, scattered this morning in some central and eastern areas and falling as snow down to 1100 metres at first. Mostly sunny over the northern plains. Local early morning frost inland, then a cool day with moderate to locally fresh south to southwest winds, strong at times about the Gippsland coast.Monday 8 OctoberLocal early frost inland. Partly cloudy with isolated showers in the south, mainly near the coast. A cool to mild day with light winds, freshening about the coast with afternoon seabreezes.Tuesday 9 OctoberLocal early frost. Isolated showers possible over most districts in the afternoon, becoming more widespread in the southwest at night. Generally mild with light to moderate northwest to southwest winds and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Wednesday 10 OctoberScattered showers over most districts tending more widespread over the southeast. Local hail possible over the southwest. Isolated thunderstorms developing, more likely over the east during the afternoon.
