MELBOURNE - Oct 6/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low over the southern inland with a trough extending to the north is expected to move east this evening and overnight bringing a southwesterly change to most districts. The low is expected to deepen rapidly off the south coast tonight then move quickly away to the east tomorrow as a high south of Adelaide extends a ridge across NSW. A weak pressure gradient will lie over the state Monday and Tuesday before a trough and possibly more significant low affect the state later in the week. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayRain areas in the southeast, locally moderate to heavy, easing to isolated showers late this evening and tending to snow showers on the Alps. Isolated showers over remaining southern and central districts, clearing in the west. The chance of thunderstorms. Mostly sunny in the north. Northwest to northeast winds before a fresh and gusty southwest change extends over western, southern and central districts, strong to gale force along the southern coast. Areas of raised dust possible in the northwest. Dangerous surf conditions , hazardous for coastal activities such as swimming, boating and rock fishing developing in the evening.Sunday 7 OctoberIsolated showers on the south coast and far southern ranges clearing during the morning. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Fresh and gusty south to southwest change extending throughout, strong along the coast, and about the southern range early. Dangerous surf conditions, hazardous for coastal activities such as swimming, boating and rock fishing.Fire Danger - Severe: Northern Rivers, Northern Tablelands Very High: Mid North Coast, Northwest Slopes and PlainsMonday 8 OctoberIsolated showers along the coast and the adjacent ranges. Mostly sunny in the west. Light winds.Tuesday 9 OctoberIsolated showers along the coast and the adjacent ranges. Mostly sunny in the west.
