Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 4/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front moved through Victoria overnight. During today a high will move over Bight waters with a ridge extending to Victoria, while a low pressure system will develop over inland South Australia. The low will move across southern NSW to reach the Tasman Sea early Sunday, while in the south the high will drift slowly eastwards to be located over Tasmania by Sunday night. The high will weaken with a trough approaching the west on Monday.
Forecast for the rest of FridayCloudy at first in the south with isolated showers near and south of the divide, clearing by early afternoon. Fine and mainly sunny in the north. Cool to mild in the south, mild to warm in the north. Moderate southwest to southerly winds.Saturday 6 OctoberCloudy with areas of rain contracting eastwards across the State during the day. Isolated showers persisting in the south after the rain and snow extending down to 1100 metres later. Cool with light to moderate southeasterly wind, freshening later in the day.Sunday 7 OctoberRain easing to showers over East Gippsland during the morning. Isolated showers elsewhere in the south and about the east ranges, clearing by mid afternoon. Snow down to 1100 metres at first. Fine in the northwest. Cool with moderate to fresh south to southeast winds, strong at times about East Gippsland.Monday 8 OctoberMainly fine apart from the chance of a shower or two about Gippsland and southwest coasts. A mild and partly cloudy day with light to moderate southeast to northeast winds and freshening afternoon coastal seabreezes.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Friday.Product IDV10310
