MELBOURNE - Oct 4/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure ridge over New South Wales is weakening and a cold front is approaching from the west. The front will move through the west and southeast of the state on Friday with a dry southerly change affecting these areas. A low pressure trough will extend from the north across the eastern and central parts of the state in a wake of the front. During Saturday the trough will deepen and a low will develop within the trough over the southeast with showers and rain developing. The trough is expected to weaken on Sunday as the low moves rapidly east. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayMostly sunny day. North to northwesterly winds.Friday 5 OctoberThe chance of showers over the coastal ranges in the far south during the afternoon. Fine elsewhere. North to northwest winds ahead of a south to southwesterly change extending across the south of the state. Very High Fire Danger: Northern Rivers, Mid North Coast, Hunter, Illawarra, South Coast, Northern & Central Tablelands, North West Slopes & Plains.Fire Danger - Very High Fire Danger in the north and east of the state.Saturday 6 OctoberCloud increasing over the south with showers developing, increasing to rain in the southeast during the afternoon with thunderstorms also developing. Fine in the north. Southwest to northwesterly winds tending north to northeasterly on the south and central coasts.Sunday 7 OctoberRain in the southeast, clearing early in the day. Fine remainder. South to southwest winds.Monday 8 OctoberIsolated showers along the central and northern coasts and the far north ranges. Fine remainder.
