MELBOURNE - Sep 29/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold and unstable west to southwesterly airflow across Victoria will moderate overnight and early Sunday as a low pressure system just south of Tasmania moves away to the southeast, and a high pressure system over the Bight extend a ridge over inland Victoria. The high will move slowly eastwards to be over western Victoria on Monday, then move across northern areas of the State on Tuesday to reach the NSW central coast by early Wednesday. The next cold front will enter the Bight later Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayScattered showers with local hail and thunder, mainly over southern and mountain districts and more widespread about the southwest and South Gippsland coasts. Snowfalls down as low as 900 metres. A fresh and gusty west to southwesterly wind, strong along the coastal fringe.Sunday 30 SeptemberMorning frost patches inland. Scattered showers on and south of the ranges, contracting to coastal areas by the evening. Cool with moderate to fresh southwest winds, easing during the day.Monday 1 OctoberLocal morning fog and frosts patches inland. Isolated showers in the south, clearing during the afternoon. Fine and sunny in the north. Cool to mild with light to moderate southwest to southerly winds.Tuesday 2 OctoberLocal morning frosts inland. Fine apart from isolated morning showers near the coast, sunny in the north. Generally mild with light westerly winds and local afternoon coastal seabreezes.Wednesday 3 OctoberA mild to warm and mainly sunny day throughout.
