Warning Summary at issue time A Strong Wind Warning has been issued for coastal waters between Maroochydore and Point Danger including Moreton Bay, for Saturday. For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's web site www.bom.gov.au/qld Weather Situation A high over the Tasman Sea extends a weakening ridge along the east Queensland coast. A surface trough over southwest Queensland is expected to move across western and southern Queensland during Saturday. An upper level trough is expected to move across Queensland during the weekend. Forecast for the rest of Friday Cloudy with patchy rain, showers and gusty thunderstorms over the west and southern interior. Isolated showers along the northeast tropical coast. Fine and mostly clear elsewhere. Moderate SE to NE winds over the tropics, shifting moderate to fresh and gusty NE to NW elsewhere. A strong and gusty SW wind change moving over the southwest. Forecast for Saturday Cloudy with patchy rain, showers and isolated thunderstorms over the west and southern interior, extending into the tropical and central interior and southeast districts during the day; while clearing from the southwest late in the day or night. Isolated morning fogs along the tropical coast. A warm to very warm day in eastern districts, but much cooler in the west and southern interior. Light to moderate SE to NE winds over the northern tropics, shifting moderate to fresh NW to NE over central and southeast districts and tending strong at times along the far southern coast. Moderate to fresh and gusty SW to SE winds across western Queensland and the southern interior. A Very High Fire Danger in the Central West and Southeast Coast districts. Forecast for Sunday The upper level trough is expected to move eastwards across the state. As a result, the cloud band is expected to contract into eastern districts during the day, producing areas of patchy rain, showers and isolated thunderstorms. Cloudy with patchy rain and isolated thunderstorms over the northwest and central interior clearing during the morning. Fine and mostly sunny over the far west of the state as a high moves across the Great Australian Bight and extends a ridge across western Queensland and along the southern Queensland coast. Temperatures generally near or below average during the day. Forecast for Monday A strong high over the eastern Great Australian Bight should push a strengthening ridge and onshore flow and showers across Queensland's far eastern districts, mainly isolated. However, a weak upper level trough moving over the eastern Queensland may bring scattered showers to the Capricornia and southern coastal areas. The high should also maintain a flow of dry air over Queensland's interior, resulting in fine and mostly sunny conditions. Forecast for Tuesday The high is expected to move across southeast Australia and extend a firm ridge along most of the east Queensland coast with fresh to strong SE winds and generally scattered showers, as a stronger upper trough moves over the southeast of the state. Isolated showers are likely to spread into the eastern and tropical interior. Remaining fine in the west and southern interior with temperatures remaining near or below average. Outlook for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday The high pressure system is expected to move slowly eastwards into the Tasman Sea and maintain a ridge and SE winds along the east Queensland coast with isolated showers slowly contracting north and tending scattered about the north tropical coast. Isolated showers may occur about the Gulf Country. Remaining fine and mostly sunny over the interior. The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am EST Saturday.
