Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 27/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea is moving east and a ridge over northeastern New South Wales is weakening. During Friday a strong cold front will move across the west and southeast of the state and through the northeast during Saturday as another high pressure system moves south of the Bight extending a ridge to the east. The high is expected to move over the western Tasman Sea by Wednesday maintaining the ridge to the northwest.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayMostly sunny in the northeast and and the far northwest. Isolated thunderstorms in the southern inland ad the chance of thunderstorms elsewhere. Northwesterly winds strengthening in the southern and northwestern inland. North to northeast winds in the east, strengthening along southern and central parts of the coast during the afternoon.Friday 28 SeptemberPartly cloudy in the northeast. Rain areas and isolated thunderstorms elsewhere. Rain tending widespread about the western slopes of the southern ranges. Fresh to strong and gusty northeast to northwesterly winds turning cooler southwesterly in the southwest.Fire Danger -  Very High in the east and in Far Western.Saturday 29 SeptemberRain and isolated thunderstorms in the east contracting to the northeast. Snow showers on the higher Alpine peaks. Mostly sunny in the far west. Northwest to southwest winds, fresh to strong and gusty in the east.Sunday 30 SeptemberClearing showers on the Alps and isolated showers on the far north coast. mostly sunny elsewhere. Southwest to southeasterly winds.Monday 1 OctoberThe chance of showers on the north coast. Partly cloudy elsewhere.
