Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 26/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system lies over the Tasman Sea, while a cold front and trough move from the Southern Ocean towards South Australia. Warm northerly winds will increase over New South Wales on Thursday as the trough and front draw nearer, becoming quite gusty in the west and south of the state. During Friday the frontal system is expected to move across southern and west districts, accompanied by gusty winds and rain areas. Rain will contract to the northeast of the state by early Saturday, then clear as the next high pressure ridge strengthens from the west.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayThe chance of light showers across the south and west, with local thunder. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Isolated early fog patches coast to ranges. Areas of raised dust possible in the far west in the afternoon. Very warm to hot day in the far west with northwesterly winds strengthening. North to northeast winds in the east, strengthening along southern and central parts of the coast during the afternoon.Fire Danger -  Very High in the Upper Western District.Friday 28 SeptemberRain areas and possible thunderstorms in the southwest, extending north and east through the day. Rain becoming more widespread about the western slopes of the southern ranges in the afternoon and evening. Remaining fine in the northeast. Very warm day with fresh to strong and gusty northeast to northwesterly winds turning cooler southwesterly in the southwest.Saturday 29 SeptemberRain and possible storms contracting to the northeast during the morning. Isolated showers continuing on the western slopes of the ranges, and developing during the afternoon over the southwest inland. Northwest to southwest winds, fresh to strong and gusty in the east.Sunday 30 SeptemberClearing showers in the far northeast, and early snow showers about the southern Alps. Fine elsewhere.
