MELBOURNE - Sep 26/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough over the west of the State is expected to move eastwards to reach central districts this evening, and the northeast on Thursday before moving northeast of the State later Friday. A cold front will move across the south later on Friday, with a high pressure system becoming established over the Bight during Saturday and Sunday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayThe chance of showers and thunderstorms over areas northeast of about Tarcoola to Loxton. Generally warm with fresh and gusty northerly winds ahead of a west to southwesterly change extending across western and central parts.Thursday 27 SeptemberThe chance of showers and thunderstorms over the Northeast Pastoral, Flinders and Riverland districts and over northeastern parts of the Murraylands, Mid North and Northwest Pastoral districts. Possible showers further south in the late evening. Warm to hot with fresh and gusty northwest winds ahead of a west to southwesterly change reaching the northeast in the evening.Friday 28 SeptemberIsolated showers extending to most parts, increasing to scattered across the southern agricultural area during the day. Possible isolated thunderstorms about southern coasts in the afternoon or evening. Hot in the far northeast at first with fresh northwesterly winds, ahead of a milder, fresh to strong west to southwesterly change extending throughout by late afternoon.Saturday 29 SeptemberScattered showers over the south-central and southeastern parts, decreasing to isolated during the morning. Isolated showers over the remainder of the agricultural and southern pastoral areas and the West Coast district. Isolated showers in the far northeast clearing during the morning. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds easing late afternoon and evening.Sunday 30 SeptemberIsolated showers about coastal districts. Cool to mild in the south, warmer in the north. Light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday afternoon to midnight Sunday are expected to be 10 to 15 mm about the Mt Lofty Ranges and Lower South East, 5 to 10 mm across the remainder of the southern agricultural area, and less than 5 mm elsewhere.Monday until WednesdayIsolated showers about southern coasts and the Lower South East clearing by Tuesday.
