Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 25/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over northeast Victoria will reach the Tasman Sea on Wednesday. A low pressure trough will develop over South Australia on Wednesday then will move eastwards. The trough will cross Victoria late Thursday and during Friday then a cold front will follow Friday night. A cold and unstable west to southwesterly airflow will follow the front on Saturday as the next high pressure system approaches the Bight.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayFine and mostly clear tonight with light winds.Wednesday 26 SeptemberEarly morning fog and frost in the east at first. A mild to warm and mostly dry day. Sunny in the east and at first in the west, but a band of isolated showers extending from the western border around midday, reaching the far east at night. Northerly wind, freshening over western and central districts. Afternoon seabreezes along the Gippsland coast.Thursday 27 SeptemberWarm to very warm and partly cloudy with isolated showers developing, mostly in the afternoon and evening. The chance of afternoon thunderstorms mainly over the north. Northerly winds strengthening, especially in elevated and central areas ahead of a late southwesterly change extending along the coast.Friday 28 SeptemberAreas of rain and isolated thunderstorms contracting eastwards with scattered showers to follow. Mild with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds tending westerly.Saturday 29 SeptemberScattered showers mainly over southern and mountain districts with local hail and thunder. Snowfalls down to 1000 metres. A cold day with a fresh west to southwesterly wind.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Wednesday.Product IDV10310
