Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 24/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary at issue time
A Strong Wind Warning is current for coastal waters from
Double Island Point to Point Danger, including Moreton Bay.
For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's
web site www.bom.gov.au/qld
Weather Situation
A surface trough extends from the Gulf Country through to southeast
Queensland. A high over southern Australia is pushing a cooler southerly change
through southeast Queensland.
Forecast for the rest of Tuesday
Isolated showers and afternoon thunderstorms through the central parts and
into the Wide Bay and Burnett district. Fine and mostly sunny over the remainder
of the state. Light to moderate SE to NE winds over most areas, fresh at times
in the far north and far southeast.
Forecast for Wednesday
A high over the Tasman Sea will push milder southerly winds further
northwards into the Central Coast region. Light showers and areas of mainly
morning drizzle about the Central Coast and Central Highlands regions. The
chance of some isolated afternoon thunderstorms from the southern interior,
across the Central Highlands and into the Central Coast region as a surface
trough deepens. Fine and mostly sunny over the remainder of the state. High
cloud will enter the far west of the state late in the day though with no rain.
Very warm to hot temperatures in the west of the state.
Forecast for Thursday
The high over the Tasman will maintain a ridge along the Queensland coast,
and the associated onshore flow is expected to push showers across the tropical
east coast. Some isolated showers and storms are possible from the north
tropical coast through the central interior. Cloud is expected to increase over
the Channel Country ahead of an upper level trough, and some local thunder is
possible, but little or no rain. Fine and mostly sunny conditions elsewhere.
Very warm to hot temperatures in the west, with increasing fire dangers.
Forecast for Friday
A weak ridge of high pressure is expected to remain along the east coast, and
should push some isolated showers across the northeast coast. The upper level
trough should gradually approach Queensland's far southwestern border late in
the day, increasing the cloud further over the Channel Country with some local
thunder. Fine over the remainder of the state and very warm to hot across the
southern interior.
Outlook for Saturday, Sunday and Monday
The upper level trough is expected to move eastwards across Queensland during
the outlook period, extending a cloud band with scattered showers and isolated
storms across the interior and the southeast during the weekend, and across the
remainder of the eastern districts as it weakens on Monday. Cooler and drier S
to SE winds behind the cloud band over the interior.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:10 pm EST
Tuesday.
