MELBOURNE - Sep 21/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak high pressure system will move eastwards across Victoria today. A cold front will approach western Victoria tonight, then move rapidly across the State on Sunday as an associated low pressure system moves south of Tasmania. The next high pressure system will move from the Bight to northwest Victoria late Monday, then cross Victoria to the Tasman Sea on Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayIsolated showers near the central and Gippsland coasts, clearing eastwards during the morning and early afternoon. Morning fog patches. An otherwise fine and mostly sunny day, warm in the northwest and mild elsewhere. Isolated showers developing in the southwest during the evening. Light winds tending moderate northerly in the west. Afternoon seabreezes near the coast.Sunday 23 SeptemberScattered showers developing on and south of the ranges, most widespread near the southwest coast. Snowfalls gradually lowering to 1200 metres. Local hail and thunder near the southwest coast. Isolated showers possible over much of the north, but remaining dry in the far northwest. Mild in the east at first, but colder, moderate to fresh west to southwest winds extending throughout.Monday 24 SeptemberLocal early morning frost inland. Isolated showers on and south of the ranges, scattered near the coast. Snow falls above 1000 metres. Fine over the northern plains. Cool with light to moderate southwest to southerly winds, fresh at times near the coast.Tuesday 25 SeptemberFine apart from early morning fog and frost patches and isolated clearing showers near the coast.
