MELBOURNE - Sep 20/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough is expected to deepen near the New South Wales coast during Friday while a weak ridge develops in the west. A southerly change associated with this trough will move up the southern half of the coast during Friday afternoon and evening. A weak high is expected to drift overhead on Saturday before the next cold front sweeps across the state on Sunday and Monday. Forecast for the rest of FridayA cloud band associated with a passing trough will gradually contract to the northeast today bringing possibility of light showers. Showers are likely to increase over the northeast later in the morning and in the afternoon with isolated thunderstorms possible. There is also the chance of afternoon or late thunderstorms over the Alps and along the southern parts of the coast. Becoming sunny in the west. Northwest to northeast winds ahead of a south to southwesterly change in the south and west.Saturday 22 SeptemberFine and mostly sunny across most of the state. The chance of isolated light showers developing near the South Australian border later in the day. South to southwesterly winds in the east, light and variable winds in the west.Sunday 23 SeptemberFine apart from possible isolated morning showers in the southeast. Warm northeast to northwesterly winds ahead of a southwesterly wind change moving through the west and south of the state.Monday 24 SeptemberIsolated showers and afternoon thunderstorms along the north coast. Fine remainder.
