MELBOURNE - Sep 20/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high will move over the Bight Thursday night then across central and eastern parts of the State on Friday. A cold front will extend across the west on Saturday morning then to remaining parts of the State during the afternoon and evening. Another high will move across the State on Monday ahead of a trough developing in the west on Tuesday then moving through the eastern districts on Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayPossible drizzle patches developing about Kangaroo Island this afternoon, extending to the southern agricultural area east of Gulf St Vincent this evening. Isolated showers and possible isolated thunderstorms over the north of Eyre Peninsula, the south of the pastoral districts, the Flinders, Mid North and Riverland districts. Mild in the south, grading to warm in the north. Moderate to fresh northwest to southwest winds, tending southwest to southeast late evening.Friday 21 SeptemberPossible early morning drizzle patches about the southern coasts and ranges, clearing by mid-morning. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms over the south of the pastoral districts and Flinders district, clearing during the morning. Morning fog patches. Cool to mild in the south grading to warm in the north. Moderate southwest to southeast winds turning northeasterly in the west.Saturday 22 SeptemberFine at first with freshening northerly winds and warm to hot conditions. Isolated showers developing south of Port Lincoln to Adelaide to Keith during the afternoon, with possible isolated showers over the remainder south of about Leigh Creek. Possible isolated afternoon thunderstorms over the northern agricultural area and south of the pastoral districts. Winds shifting fresh southwesterly in the far west during the morning then over central and eastern parts during the afternoon and evening.Sunday 23 SeptemberIsolated showers near the west coast and about the agricultural area, tending scattered over the Lower South East in the morning and contracting to southern coasts in the evening. Possible thunderstorms and small hail over the Lower South East during the morning. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds, easing in the evening.Monday 24 SeptemberIsolated showers about Kangaroo Island and the Lower South East, with possible showers over the remainder of the agricultural area and western coasts. Cumulative rainfall totals from Thursday to midnight Monday are expected to be less than 2 mm, increasing to 2 to 5 mm about the southern coasts and ranges and possibly reaching 5 to 10 mm over the South East district.Tuesday until ThursdayFine and mild to warm on Tuesday, apart from possible morning showers about the Lower South East coast. Fine with increasing high cloud, warm to hot temperatures and freshening northerly winds on Wednesday. A milder southwesterly change will extend over western parts of the State on Wednesday then into central and eastern parts on Thursday.
