MELBOURNE - Sep 19/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak low pressure trough will enter northwestern Victoria later this morning, then move slowly southeastwards to reach the central districts by this evening and the Tasman Sea on Friday morning, where a low pressure system will develop. A weak high will move across western Victoria later on Friday and over the remainder of the State early Saturday as the low moves away to the east. A cold front will approach western Victoria Saturday night, then move across the State on Sunday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayFine over the northwest. Early morning fog patches over Gippsland. Patchy rain over central districts during the morning contracting southeastwards and later clearing. Scattered showers then developing over southern and mountain districts during the late afternoon and evening. A mild day with light to moderate east to northeasterly winds shifting moderate to fresh westerly in the west and south later.Friday 21 SeptemberFine over the northwest. Isolated showers elsewhere, tending scattered over the southeast. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms over the eastern ranges. Cool to mild with moderate southwesterly winds.Saturday 22 SeptemberWarm in the north, mild in the south. Isolated showers in the east, clearing during the morning. Scattered showers extending from the western border at night. Light winds tending moderate northerly in the west. Afternoon coastal seabreezes.Sunday 23 SeptemberScattered showers over the southwest. Isolated showers over remaining districts, but fine over the far northwest.
