MELBOURNE - Sep 19/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough in the west of the State will reach central districts late Wednesday evening and extend through the southeast of the State Thursday morning. A high will move over the Bight Thursday night and across the State on Friday, ahead of a cold front extending across the west on Saturday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayPatchy light rain over central and eastern parts south of Moomba, contracting to the South East district by late evening. Mild in the south, grading to warm to hot in the north. Moderate to fresh northeast to northwesterly winds ahead of a milder west to southwesterly wind change over the west.Thursday 20 SeptemberPatchy light rain over the Lower South East clearing early morning. Possible isolated light showers to follow about Kangaroo Island and the southern agricultural area east of Gulf St Vincent. Isolated showers and possible isolated thunderstorms from late afternoon over the north of Eyre Peninsula, the south of the Pastoral districts and the Flinders district. Mild in the south, grading to warm to hot in the north. Light to moderate southeast to northeast winds, turning moderate to fresh northwest to southwest from late morning, tending southwest to southeast in the evening.Friday 21 SeptemberIsolated light showers over Kangaroo Island and the southern agricultural area east of Gulf St Vincent, clearing early afternoon. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms over the south of the Pastoral districts and Flinders district, clearing during the morning. Cool to mild in the south grading to warm in the north. Moderate southwest to southeast winds turning northeasterly in the west.Saturday 22 SeptemberIsolated showers developing over the southern agricultural area, with possible isolated showers over the remainder south of Coober Pedy. Possible isolated afternoon thunderstorms over the northern agricultural area and south of the Pastoral districts. Warm to hot with moderate northeast to northwesterly winds freshening in the west and south ahead of a cooler, fresh southwest to southerly change reaching a line Cape Jervis to Oodnadatta late evening. Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday morning to midnight Friday are expected to be mostly less than 2 mm, but local falls of 2 to 5 mm are possible about the southern agricultural area.Sunday 23 SeptemberIsolated showers over the west coast and agricultural area, tending scattered over the Lower South East in the morning and contracting to southern coasts in the evening. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds, easing in the evening. Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday afternoon to midnight Sunday are expected to be mostly up to 2 mm, reaching 2 to 5 mm over the South East district.Monday until WednesdayIsolated showers about the Lower South East Monday morning. Isolated showers about southern coasts late Wednesday.
