MELBOURNE - Sep 19/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough in the far west will move across northern and western districts today, reaching central districts late Wednesday evening and extending throughout the State by Thursday evening. A high pressure system will move across the south on Friday followed by a cold front on Saturday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayPossible early morning fog in the Lower South East. Patchy light rain extending across the agricultural area and pastoral districts south of about Coober Pedy to Moomba, contracting to eastern districts in the evening. Possible isolated thunderstorms in the north and west during the morning. Mild in the south, grading to warm to hot in the north. Moderate to fresh northeast to northwesterly winds ahead of a milder west to southwesterly wind change over the west and north.Thursday 20 SeptemberPatchy light rain over the Lower South East clearing early morning. Isolated showers to follow about Kangaroo Island, Fleurieu Peninsula and the South East district. Patchy light rain possibly developing over the south of the pastoral districts and north of the Flinders district in the evening. Mild in the south, grading to warm to hot in the north. Moderate to fresh southwest to southeasterly winds extending throughout.Friday 21 SeptemberIsolated showers about the southern agricultural area contracting to the Lower South East during the morning then clearing early afternoon. Patchy light rain possible in the south of the pastoral districts and north of the Flinders district during the early morning. Cool to mild in the south grading to warm in the north. Moderate southeast to southwesterly winds turning northeasterly in the west.Saturday 22 SeptemberIsolated showers developing over the southern agricultural area. Warm to hot with moderate northeast to northwesterly winds freshening ahead of a cooler, fresh southwest to southerly change extending across from the west. Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday morning to midnight Friday are expected to be mostly less than 2 mm, but local falls of 2 to 5 mm are possible about the southern agricultural area.Sunday until TuesdayIsolated showers about coastal areas contracting to the Lower South East early Monday morning then clearing.
