For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's web site www.bom.gov.au/qld Weather Situation A high over the Tasman Sea is maintaining a very weak ridge along the east coast of Queensland, and a weak surface trough lies across the state's interior. Forecast for the rest of Wednesday Fine and mostly sunny over a lot of the state. Some scattered showers and isolated storms very early in the morning about the southeast, clearing to a fine, mostly sunny day. Cloudy conditions over the southern interior, with some patchy light rain and some local thunder, but little if any rainfall is expected. Very warm to hot during the day over the far west, with gusty N to NW winds ahead of a SW change over the far southwest. Moderate SE to E winds over the northern tropics, tending generally light and variable elsewhere. Very High to Severe fire danger over the Channel Country. Forecast for Thursday An upper level ridge over central inland Queensland will produce dry and stable and mostly sunny conditions over the state. Warm to hot temperature are expected in the west, and spreading across the southern half of the state, with increasing fire dangers over the southern interior. Forecast for Friday An upper level trough is expected to strengthen as it moves rapidly across Queensland's southern districts, whilst a surface trough is expected to extend from the state's central west into the southeast interior. A cloud band with some isolated storms will extend across the state's southern interior and southeast districts. Very warm to hot temperatures over the southern half of the state and the northwest. Fresh and gusty winds either side of the surface trough are expected to increase fire dangers into the very high to severe range across southern districts. Forecast for Saturday The upper trough will move offshore to be replaced by a more benign upper pattern, and this should lead to fine conditions returning throughout Queensland, although it should remain very warm to hot over the southern half of the state. Outlook for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday The air over the state should remain dry and stable, keeping most areas fine over the outlook period. Very warm to hot across the weekend, though a new high over southern Australia should push some cooler air into the Channel Country during Sunday. Temperatures easing over the remainder of the interior on Monday, and also moderating over the eastern districts. A southerly change may produce isolated showers and thunderstorms near the southeast coast early in the new week, but this activity is unlikely to spread very far inland. The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:10 pm EST Wednesday.
