MELBOURNE - Sep 16/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak low pressure trough will enter western Victoria this morning and affect central districts during the afternoon and evening. The next high pressure system will pass just south of Victoria on Monday to reach the Tasman Sea on Tuesday as a trough of low pressure extends from New South Wales to northern Victoria. Another low pressure trough over South Australia will approach northwest Victoria late Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of SundayMorning fog patches in the east and light early morning frost in the northeast. Cloud increasing from the west with Scattered showers in the west, extending to central areas during the afternoon and eastern parts in the evening, although remaining dry in the far east. Isolated snow showers possible on the Alpine peaks later. A cool to mild day. Light winds in the east, but moderate west to southwesterly winds gradually extending from the west.Monday 17 SeptemberPartly cloudy with isolated showers about the eastern ranges and the southwest, extending to remaining districts during the afternoon. Showers falling as snow on the Alpine peaks. A mild day with light south to southeast winds and freshening afternoon seabreezes.Tuesday 18 SeptemberIsolated showers extending throughout and becoming more frequent over central and eastern areas during the afternoon. Showers falling as snow on the Alpine peaks. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms in the east and about the ranges. Mild with light winds inland and moderate seabreezes developing along the coast during the afternoon.Wednesday 19 SeptemberIsolated showers over most districts, possible tending to rain over the west later in the day.
