Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 15/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system centred over South Australia extends a ridge across New South Wales. This ridge will drift slowly east through the weekend, promoting fine conditions in most districts. Later on Sunday a trough of low pressure is expected to develop over the inland as the high moves to the Tasman Sea. This trough should remain in place through Monday, generating unsettled conditions across the eastern half of the state before weakening on Tuesday. Another trough is forecast to affect the region later in the week.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayFine. South to southeasterly winds near the coast, tending light and variable inland.Sunday 16 SeptemberThe chance of showers in the far southwest. The chance of showers also along the northern coast during the morning and about the northern ranges in the afternoon. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Early fog and frost patches in the east, mainly about the ranges. Light and variable winds inland, tending southeast to northeasterly near the coast.Monday 17 SeptemberShowers in the south and east, most widespread along the coast and ranges with the chance of thunderstorms in the northeast. Fine in the northwest. Southeast to northeasterly winds, freshening along the coast later.Tuesday 18 SeptemberShowers in central and eastern districts, with thunderstorms possible on the ranges and western slopes. Fine in the far west. Generally light winds inland, tending fresh northeasterly along the coast.Wednesday 19 SeptemberIsolated showers possible over most of the state.
