MELBOURNE - Sep 15/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high over Victoria will weaken overnight while another high moves to a position well south of the Bight during Sunday. A trough of low pressure is expected to move over the far west of the State on Tuesday, then extend slowly eastwards to reach central districts Wednesday afternoon. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayPossible isolated light showers about far southern coasts. Cool to mild with light and variable winds, tending moderate northeasterly in the far west.Sunday 16 SeptemberMorning fog patches over the agricultural area and the West Coast district. Scattered morning showers about the southeast with isolated showers on and east of the Mt Lofty Ranges. Possible isolated morning showers over remaining parts southeast of about Port Lincoln to Hawker to Broken Hill. Cool in the southeast, grading to warm in the north and west. Light and variable winds, tending moderate southwest to southeasterly in the afternoon.Monday 17 SeptemberMorning fog patches mostly over the agricultural area. Isolated showers over eastern districts of the agricultural area and the southern coasts and ranges. Cool in the southeast, grading to warm in the north and west. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds.Tuesday 18 SeptemberPossible early fog over the southeast. Isolated showers about eastern districts, more likely in the afternoon about the eastern border. Areas of cloud increasing from the west with patchy light rain extending over areas south and west of about Coober Pedy to Cleve during the day. Cool to mild in the south, warm to hot in north and west. Mainly light winds ahead of milder southwesterly change in the far west.Wednesday 19 SeptemberPatchy light rain extending over eastern districts by evening and clearing from the northwest. Warm northeasterly winds ahead of a cooler west to southwesterly wind change. Cumulative rainfall totals from Saturday afternoon to midnight Wednesday are expected to be 2 to 10 mm over agricultural areas, with less 2 mm over southern Pastoral districts.Thursday until SaturdayThe trough and associated light patchy rain will clear from the southeast of the State during Thursday. Isolated showers will follow over the agricultural areas and West Coast district, contracting southwards and clearing late in the period.
