MELBOURNE - Sep 13/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system is ridging into the Bight while a cold southwesterly airflow covers Victoria. A cold front will cross Tasmania later on Friday. On Saturday a high pressure system will move over northern Victoria. A weak cold front will move through Bass Strait later on Sunday as a high pressure system builds south of the Bight. This new high will move into the Tasman Sea by Monday night. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayScattered showers in the east, tending to isolated in the southwest corner. Fine over the northwest. Snowfalls above 1000 metres. Isolated hail and thunder possible in the south and east. Moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds, easing.Friday 14 SeptemberEarly frost patches in the north. Isolated showers in southern and mountain areas, mainly near the coast. Snow showers above 1000 metres, mainly in the morning. Fine and partly cloudy in the north. A cool day with light to moderate west to southwesterly winds, fresh near the coast.Saturday 15 SeptemberEarly frost and fog patches in the north. Isolated showers in the south clearing during the afternoon. Fine over the north. A cool to mild day with a light to moderate west to southwesterly wind, fresh at first about the coast.Sunday 16 SeptemberEarly frost and fog in the east. Isolated showers developing in western and central districts, remaining fine in the east. A cool to mild day with light to moderate west to southwesterly winds.Monday 17 SeptemberIsolated showers in southern and mountain districts.
