MELBOURNE - Sep 11/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front will cross the Bight to approach western Victoria Wednesday morning, then move across the State during Wednesday afternoon and evening. Another cold front will move across southern Victoria on Thursday, with a further front crossing Tasmania on Friday. On Saturday a high pressure system will move over northern Victoria. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayFine. Light wind tending northerly from the west.Wednesday 12 SeptemberEarly fog patches in Gippsland. Areas of rain developing in the southwest around the middle of the day before extending to most remaining districts during the afternoon and evening although only isolated showers are likely for the northwest. Mild to warm with a freshening northwesterly wind ahead of a cooler west to southwesterly change extending eastwards during the afternoon and evening.Thursday 13 SeptemberRain areas in the east at first. Scattered showers near the coast extending inland during the day, although more isolated over the northern plains. Snowfalls lowering to around 1000 metres. Isolated hail and thunder possible in the south and east. A cool to cold day with with fresh to strong west to southwesterly winds.Friday 14 SeptemberIsolated showers in the southern and mountain areas, mainly near the coast. Fine and partly cloudy in the north. A cool day with light to moderate west to southwesterly winds, fresh near the coast.Saturday 15 SeptemberIsolated showers in the south clearing during the afternoon. Fine over the north.
