Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 6/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front, associated with a deep low pressure system south of Tasmania is approaching New South Wales western border. This front will cross the state rapidly on Friday as a strong high pressure system moves south of Bight extending a ridge to the east. Another cold front is expected to move through during Wednesday and Thursday as the high moves over the Tasman Sea and the ridge across the state weakens.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayIsolated showers about the western slopes of the southern ranges, with snow above 1600 metres. Mostly clear remainder. West to northwest winds, strong and gusty in the southeast.Friday 7 SeptemberIsolated showers in the southeast, tending scattered about the western slopes of the southern ranges with snow showers developing on the Alps. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Northwest to westerly winds, strong and gusty in the east turning cooler southwesterly in the west.Fire Danger -  Very High Fire Danger in the eastern half of the state.Saturday 8 SeptemberIsolated showers on the western slopes of the southern ranges. Possible afternoon thunderstorms on the Alps. Mostly sunny elsewhere. West to southwesterly winds, slowly easing.Sunday 9 SeptemberMostly sunny. Southwest to southeast winds.Monday 10 SeptemberMostly sunny with light winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Friday.Product IDN10031
