MELBOURNE - Aug 31/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over South Australia will drift slowly eastwards across northern Victoria on the weekend to lie just northeast of the State on Monday. Meanwhile a weak cold front will brush the southwest coast later Sunday before slipping southwards. On Tuesday a low pressure trough will deepen over the Bight and will approach western Victoria later in the day. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayAreas of morning frost and fog patches inland. Isolated showers on and south of the divide, falling as snow above 1100 meters in the east, contracting to Gippsland during the afternoon and clearing later. Cool with generally light winds.Sunday 2 SeptemberMorning frost and fog patches in the north and east then a fine and mainly sunny day throughout apart from the chance of a late shower about the southwest coast. Mild with light to moderate northerly winds, freshening in the southwest.Monday 3 SeptemberFine after morning frost and fog patches in the east. Mild to warm with light winds tending northerly in the west.Tuesday 4 SeptemberFine until isolated showers develop in the southwest later. Mostly sunny at first but cloud increasing in the west during the afternoon.
