MELBOURNE - Aug 30/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong high pressure system to the south of Western Australia extends a ridge over the west of the state while a broad low pressure trough lies over eastern New South Wales. The combination of these two systems is producing windy conditions over much of the state which will continue tomorrow and for part of Saturday. A southwesterly airstream associated with the trough will bring a cloudband and cooler conditions to the state on Friday. Snow is possible to 700 metres in the southeast. Conditions will ease on Saturday as the trough moves eastwards, however very cool mornings are expected to affect most areas of the state through until early next week. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayIsolated showers about the western slopes of the southern ranges, falling as snow above about 800 metres. Isolated showers on the far north coast. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Gusty west to southwesterly winds.Friday 31 AugustScattered showers in the far southeast, falling as snow above about 700 metres. Isolated showers on the far north coast. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Southwesterly winds, fresh and gusty near the coast.Saturday 1 SeptemberA cold morning with early fog and frost. Mostly sunny apart from early showers on the western slopes of the southern ranges, and the possibility of isolated showers developing along the southern and central coastal fringe late in the day. Southwest to southeast winds.Sunday 2 SeptemberA cold morning with early fog and frosts. Isolated early showers along central parts of the coast. Mostly sunny remainder. Light winds.Monday 3 SeptemberA cold morning with early fog and frosts. Mostly sunny day.
