MELBOURNE - Aug 29/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system lies over the central Tasman Sea while a broad trough lies over Bass Strait. A series of cold fronts will move through southeastern Australia over the next few days as the high moves further eastwards into the Tasman Sea and the trough moves closer to New South Wales. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers on the western slopes of the southern ranges with snow about the Alpine peaks. Partly cloudy remainder. North to northwest winds in the east. Westerly winds in the west.Thursday 30 AugustIsolated showers about the western slopes of the southern ranges, falling as snow above about 800 metres. Isolated showers and afternoon thunderstorms on the north coast. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Gusty west to southwesterly winds extending throughout.Friday 31 AugustIsolated showers in the far southeast, falling as snow above about 800 metres. Isolated showers on the far north coast. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Southwesterly winds, fresh and gusty near the coast.Saturday 1 SeptemberMostly sunny apart from the chance of early showers in the far southeast, and some showers along central parts of the coast. Early frosts inland. Southwest to southeast winds.Sunday 2 SeptemberIsolated early showers along central parts of the coast. Mostly sunny remainder.
