MELBOURNE - Aug 28/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system lies over the central Tasman Sea and a cold front and associated trough lies to the west of New South Wales. During Wednesday this trough and frontal system is expected to move across the state, reaching northeastern parts of New South Wales on Thursday. A high pressure ridge is forecast to enter the west of the state following the passage of the front, with the new high pressure system expected to be centred over New South Wales during the weekend. Another cold front is expected to move across during Monday and Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers in the southeast, mainly on the western slopes of the southern ranges with snow about the Alpine peaks, mainly later in the day. Partly cloudy in the remainder. North to northwest winds freshening ahead of a gusty westerly change in the west.Thursday 30 AugustIsolated showers across the southern inland, mainly about western slopes of the southern ranges, falling as snow above 1000 metres. Isolated showers and possibler afternoon thunderstorms in the northeast. Partly cloudy elsewhere. West to southwesterly change extending throughout.Friday 31 AugustThe chance of showers in the far southeast. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Southwesterly winds, fresh and gusty near the coast.Saturday 1 SeptemberMostly sunny apart from the chance of early showers in the far southeast. Early frosts inland.
