MELBOURNE - Aug 27/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system is currently centred above New South Wales, maintaining generally fine conditions in the region. This system is drifting slowly east, and by late Tuesday is expected to be over the Tasman sea while a trough and associated cold front approach western New South Wales. Warmer northerly winds will precede the front, which is forecast to bring a cool and gusty change as it crosses the state during Wednesday and Thursday. Following this, another high will extend a ridge across from the west at the end of the week. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayFine apart from the chance of isolated late showers over the southern inland. Early frost and fog inland. A mostly sunny day though high cloud in the south. Northeast to northwesterly winds.Wednesday 29 AugustIsolated showers across the south, mainly on the western slopes of the southern ranges with late snow about the Alpine peaks. Fine in the remainder. North to northwest winds increasing. A fresh and gusty westerly change in the west.Thursday 30 AugustIsolated showers across the southern inland, mainly about western slopes of the southern ranges, falling as snow above 1000 metres. Isolated showers and possibler afternoon thunderstorms in the northeast. Fine elsewhere. Northerly winds in the northeast, and a gusty west to southwesterly change extending across the remainder.Friday 31 AugustFine apart from the chance of showers about the southern ranges and in the northeast.
