Warning Summary at issue time
For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's
web site www.bom.gov.au/qld
Weather Situation
A ridge extends along the north tropical Queensland coast. A surface trough
lies over eastern Queensland with a humid and unstable airmass to its east. An
upper trough will begin to move across the southern Queensland interior during
today. A high [1027 hPa] over South Australia extends a ridge over western and
southern inland Queensland with dry conditions.
Forecast for the rest of Sunday
Morning fogs over the eastern tropics. Isolated showers over the east,
increasing to scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over central
districts and the Wide Bay and Burnett during the day. Early frosts over the
southern and southeast interior. Fine over the remainder of the state. Light to
moderate SE to NE winds along the east coast, fresh at times north of Cairns.
Generally moderate SW to SE winds elsewhere, fresh at times about western
districts. A high to very high fire danger in the Darling Downs and Granite Belt
district.
Forecast for Monday
The high over South Australia will move eastwards across New South Wales and
into the Tasman Sea by the evening. The upper trough will continue to move
eastwards across southern Queensland before moving offshore during the day.
Isolated showers will occur about the east coast and adjacent inland areas,
tending scattered with possible isolated thunderstorms about the southern coast
and Capricornia. Early frost patches are expected over the southern and
southeast interior. Fine and mostly sunny conditions will occur over the
remainder of the state.
Forecast for Tuesday
The high will continue to be situated over the Tasman Sea and will extend a
ridge along the Queensland east coast. Isolated showers will occur about the
east coast and adjacent inland in the moist onshore wind flow. Early frost
patches remain possible about the southeast interior, mainly about the Granite
Belt. Fine and mostly sunny conditions will occur over the remainder of the
state, with warm to hot daytime temperatures developing across western
districts.
Forecast for Wednesday
The high will be situated over New Zealand and will extend a ridge along the
Queensland east coast. A trough will move eastwards across central Australia and
enter western Queensland in the evening. Isolated showers will continue along
exposed parts of the east coast. Early frost patches will contract to the
Granite Belt. Fine and mostly sunny conditions will occur over the remainder of
the state. Hot and gusty winds ahead of the trough will lead to increasing fire
dangers over the southwest of the state.
Outlook for Thursday, Friday and Saturday
The trough will move east across southern Queensland on Thursday before
moving into central and southeast Queensland on Friday. A high moving slowly
eastwards across southern Australia will begin to extend a ridge along the
Queensland east coast in the wake of the trough. The trough will most likely
generate some showers and thunderstorms across southern, southeastern and
central districts with its passage. Isolated showers will continue along parts
of the tropical east coast. Fine conditions will occur over the remainder of the
state, with warm to hot daytime temperatures across western and southern
districts ahead of the trough on Thursday.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:10 pm EST
Sunday.
