Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 23/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
An intense low to the far south of the Bight will move slowly eastwards to be positioned south of Kangaroo Island this afternoon and to the west of Tasmania Friday morning. A high will form over the north of the State on Saturday, as another front clips the South East, with the high moving northeast of the State on Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayScattered showers, isolated gusty thunderstorms and possible small hail extending across the agricultural area during the morning. Showers increasing to widespread about the Mount Lofty Ranges and Lower South East coast will possible local heavy falls. Isolated showers across the south and east of the pastoral districts. Isolated thunderstorms clearing from the Northeast Pastoral during the morning. Cold in the south grading to mild in the north, with fresh to strong and gusty northwest to southwesterly winds.Friday 24 AugustIsolated showers over the agricultural area and the south of the pastoral districts, scattered over the southern agricultural area in the morning. Cold in the south grading to mild in the north. Fresh northwest to southwesterly winds, strong about southern coasts, moderating in the evening.Saturday 25 AugustIsolated showers near southern coasts, extending over the agricultural area during the day. Possible isolated morning fog patches. Cool to cold in the south grading to mild in the north. Moderate to fresh northwest to southwest winds over the agricultural area, tending lighter southwest to southeasterly in the north.Sunday 26 AugustIsolated showers about southern coasts, possible elsewhere across the agricultural area during the day. Possible isolated morning fog patches. Cool to mild, grading to warm in the far north. Cumulative rainfall totals from Thursday until midnight Sunday are forecast to be 10 to 20 mm over the southern agricultural area, reaching 20 to 30 mm over southern coasts and ranges, with possible falls of 30 to 40 mm over the Mount Lofty Ranges. 2 to 10 mm is expected over the northern agricultural area and less than 2 mm elsewhere.Monday until WednesdayIsolated showers about southern coasts, redeveloping about parts of the southern agricultural area later Monday, and extending to the southern pastoral districts on Tuesday and Wednesday. Cool to mild, warm in the north and west. Northerly winds freshening on Monday ahead of a southwest change extending throughout on Tuesday and Wednesday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CST Thursday.Product IDS10033
