Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 20/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front crossing waters south of the Bight will reach far southwest Victoria Tuesday morning. The front will weaken as it slides southeastwards across western and central districts Tuesday afternoon. A stronger cold front will cross the Bight to reach western Victoria about midnight Wednesday then extend to eastern Victoria on Thursday morning. An associated low pressure system will pass to the south of Victoria on Friday.
Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers over western and central districts, mostly about the ranges, clearing this evening. Fine elsewhere. Cool with light to moderate northerly winds.Tuesday 21 AugustEarly fog and frost patches over the northeast. Scattered showers developing in the southwest during the morning then becoming more isolated as they extend to central and northwestern areas later in the day and evening. Remaining fine in the far east. A cool to mild and partly cloudy day with northerly winds, fresh to strong in the southwest and central districts, shifting northwest to westerly and easing later in the afternoon and evening.Wednesday 22 AugustScattered showers over the southwest and also over the northeast ranges but only isolated showers developing elsewhere. Early fog and frost patches inland then a generally mild day with moderate northerly winds, freshening later.Thursday 23 AugustShowers, most extensive in the west and along the northern slopes of the dividing range, and tending to rain areas about the northeast ranges. The chance of hail and thunder in the west later. Snowfalls lowering to 1000 metres by Thursday night. Cool to cold and cloudy with moderate to fresh northwest to westerly winds.Friday 24 AugustScattered showers over the southwest and about the eastern ranges, with isolated showers over most remaining areas. Showers falling as snow above 900 metres, rising to 1200 metres by the end of the day. Cool to cold with a moderate to fresh west to northwesterly wind.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Tuesday.Product IDV10310
