Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 20/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over New South Wales is slowly moving east as a low pressure trough deepens over Western Australia. This trough will move into New South Wales on Wednesday, bringing warm and gusty northwesterly winds and isolated showers to areas west of the Divide. On Thursday a strong front will move through the state, with wind and showers increasing further. A cool change and a clearing trend will follow the front.
Forecast for the rest of MondayPartly cloudy. Light and variable winds, tending northeasterly along the coast in the afternoon.Tuesday 21 AugustPartly cloudy. Widespread early frost inland. Morning fog patches, mainly about the ranges and coast. Warm northeast to northwesterly winds.Wednesday 22 AugustFine in the far northwest, along the coast and on the eastern ranges. Isolated showers over the remainder, with snow on the higher Alps. Gusty warm northeast to northwesterly winds.Thursday 23 AugustWindy. Fine on the north coast and adjacent ranges. Rain areas in the west, contracting eastwards across the remainder of the state during the day. Isolated thunderstorms also developing over the northern slopes and ranges, and snow on the higher Alps. Warm northerly winds ahead of a cooler westerly change in the west.Friday 24 AugustWindy. Rain in the northeast, clearing. Isolated showers over the southern inland, more widespread over the southern slopes and falling as snow above about 800 metres. Cooler westerly winds with seabreezes on the northern coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Tuesday.Product IDN10031
