MELBOURNE - Aug 18/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A complex low pressure system will move eastwards across the Tasman Sea today. A high pressure system at the head of the Bight will move rapidly eastwards crossing New South Wales today then moving over the northern Tasman Sea on Monday. A cold front will approach western Victoria late Monday and will be weakening as it slides southeastwards across western and central Victoria on Tuesday. Another cold front will cross the Bight during Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of SundayMorning frost and fog patches in the north. Isolated showers in southern and mountain areas, scattered at first over East Gippsland. Fine over the northern plains except for isolated afternoon showers. A cool mostly cloudy day with light to moderate westerly winds.Monday 20 AugustEarly morning frost and fog patches near and north of the divide. A mainly fine partly cloudy day although the chance of afternoon showers in the west and about the central ranges. Cool with mainly moderate northerly winds.Tuesday 21 AugustScattered showers developing in the west during the morning then extending to central areas later in the day and evening. Remaining fine in the east. A cool to mild and partly cloudy day with northerly winds, fresh to strong in the southwest and central districts, shifting northwest to westerly and easing during the afternoon and evening.Wednesday 22 AugustIsolated showers in southern and mountain areas, mostly in the afternoon and evening.
