Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 18/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system and associated cold front which affected New South Wales over the past 24 hours are now moving away across the Tasman Sea. A high pressure system south of the Bight is drifting east, and will be centred above New South Wales by late Sunday. This high will become the dominant weather feature for the start of the new week, bringing a return to generally fine conditions, although mornings will be very cold in many areas. The next cold front appears likely to affect the region during the second half of the week.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayIsolated showers in the southeast, mainly on the western slopes of the ranges. Snow on the Alps, and possible snow flurries about higher parts of the southern and central tablelands. Fine elsewhere. Cold west to southwesterly winds, strong and gusty in the east.Sunday 19 AugustIsolated showers on the western slopes of the southern and central ranges, mainly in the morning. Snow showers on the Alps, with possible early snow flurries to 1200 metres on the southern ranges. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Early frost about the ranges, and isolated morning fog patches in the south. West to southwesterly winds, fresh at times along the coastal fringe, tending light and variable inland.Monday 20 AugustWidespread early frost inland. Morning fog patches about the ranges and coast. Otherwise a fine and partly cloudy day. Light and variable winds, tending northeasterly along the coast in the afternoon.Tuesday 21 AugustFine apart from the chance of showers about the northeast inland, and near the Victorian border. Partly cloudy. Widespread early frost inland. Morning fog patches, mainly about the ranges and coast. Northeast to northwesterly winds.Wednesday 22 AugustIsolated showers developing over the eastern half, mainly on the western slopes of the ranges. Mostly fine in the west.
