Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 16/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A strong cold front will cross NSW today, with quite widespread showers for the southern and central inland and snow down to fairly low levels on the ranges, as strengthening northwesterly winds turn colder westerly. A low pressure system is expected to develop east of Bass Strait tonight, then move only slowly to the east on Saturday with cold southwest winds over the state and showers about the southeastern third or so. Generally fine conditions with lighter winds are anticipated Sunday and Monday, as the low moves southeast and a high moves over NSW, although rather cold mornings are expected.
Forecast for the rest of FridayScattered showers over the southern and central inland, tending widespread about the western slopes of the ranges, with snow lowering to about the 900 metre level on the ranges later in the day. Isolated thunderstorms with small hail also for the southern and central inland. Isolated showers about southern and central parts of the coast. Fine in the far north. A warm day on the north coast. Strengthening northwest winds turning colder, gusty westerly winds from the west during the day, reaching the northeast in the evening.Saturday 18 AugustIsolated showers about much of the southeast third, tending scattered over the western slopes of the southern and central ranges and on the south coast. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Cool to cold with gusty west to southwesterly winds easing later.Sunday 19 AugustFine apart from the chance of a shower or two about the southeast. Early frost areas, particularly about the ranges. Light winds.Monday 20 AugustFine apart from a possible shower on the far north coast. Early frost areas and fog patches.
